LAMP: The Search for Lunar WaterEspecially for 6th–12th grade teachers Join Museum scientists and educators for a day of lunar exploration! The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) mission will conduct investigations that will prepare for and support future human exploration of the moon. LRO focuses on the selection of safe landing sites, identification of lunar resources, and studies of how the lunar radiation environment will affect humans. As part of the overall mission, the Lyman-Alpha Mapping Project (LAMP) is an instrument designed to search for lunar water at the moon’s poles. This workshop will present Museum and classroom activities designed to help students explore light, identify chemical signatures, and participate in the search for lunar water.
