Bead Study Group

The mission of the Bead Study Group is to learn about beads through research, lectures from experts in the field, helping with the cataloguing and identification of the Museum’s bead items, and sharing this knowledge with the Museum community and its diverse publics. Composed entirely of volunteers, and overseen by the Curator of Anthropology, the Bead Study Group engages in five core activities:

  • Constructing temporary exhibits
  • Conducting outreach programs, such as presentations and displays
  • Organizing workshops and lectures
  • Publishing academic and popular articles
  • Building and sustaining the Museum's library’s bead references
